Spin Class this morning! Did 50 minutes of intense workout on the bike and burned 664 calories (according to my cardio trainer phone app). I absolutely encourage everyone out there to give Spin a try. Be sure to take a towel and water with you! You lose weight and have so much energy afterward. I'm considering purchasing the shoes that attach to the pedals of the bike. Many people in class have the shoes and they seem to help them when spinning. Click: Spinning Shoes (how to buy them)
Click: Shoe Prices I hate how pricey the shoes are. Maybe I'll just make do with the tennis shoes I have now.
Breakfast: 2 corn tortillas with scrambles eggs, green tea
(spin class)
Lunch: ham sandwich on multi-grain bread, tomatoes and mustard with a dab of mayo, 1/2 grapefruit, 3 or 4 walnuts, vanilla soymilk with no sugar cocoa.
Snack: couple free food samples while grocery shopping at Costco
Dinner: broccoli, sweet potato, extra-lean beef patty, water
Come along as I learn to make healthy eating and regular exercise a habit. See the mishaps, celebrations, workout videos and transformation over a year.

Day 179 Giant Order of Garlic Cheesebread!
Exercise: Does lying on the couch all evening count?! Just needed to veg out on this Friday night.
I'm pretty HORRIFIED at my choice to stop at Fuzzy's pizza on the way home from work . All started with taking a light lunch to work. Didn't want to cook anything for dinner, which means no left overs for lunch. Had to eat early at 11am due to testing and a meeting later. No afternoon snack proved to be the end. On the way home I was talking myself out of stopping at Fuzzys, but I couldn't withstand the cheesebread temptation. It was like the little angel and devil on both shoulders saying, "do it, don't do it!" Luckily, if you can consider this luck, I ate the entire half of the frenchbread cheesebread and felt literally disgusted and hated it. Bread actually dripping with butter and garlic. It was all too much for my stomach. I do believe I will not crave that item again after that. Just wasn't enjoyable.
I hear if you eat a healthy soup before dinner, you will eat less and become full faster.

Breakfast: 2 corn tortillas with 2 scrambled eggs, green tea

Early Lunch: peanut butter sandwich on whole grain breads, plain Greek yogurt with pineapple chunks.
Snack: 100 calorie popcorn and raspberry tea
Dinner (around 4:30pm..early!): Giant garlic cheese bread order from Fuzzy's Pizza
Late Night Snack: mixed veggies and some chicken.

Day 178 Quarter Pounder w/Cheese Nutrition Facts!!
Exercise: Ballys Gym. Ran 2.5 miles on the tredmill and walked .75 miles. Increased my speed and did my personal best time. If I mentioned what my time was you would laugh and think it is very slow so I won't share yet.
Packed a healthy lunch and ate it. Didn't pack enough food today. Hungry after lunch. Made a very quick run to McDonalds. Thought, how bad could a small quarter pounder burger really be?? Not having fries or a drink. Ate the burger. Checked out the nutrition facts later. HORRIFIED! I knew it was bad, but not that bad. I plan to run later at the gym and know I won't even shed all those calories! Check out the link below. What a waste of calories!
Breakfast: 2 corn tortillas with one boiled egg and mixed greens, green tea, 1/2 grapefruit
Snack: some pineapple chunks, small orange, water
Lunch: small chicken, red potatoes, corn/greenbeans, water.
2nd Lunch: small quarter pounder burger with cheese, water. Rats! Should have packed my yogurt.
Snack before workout: corn tortilla with slice of ham.
Dinner: sanwich with mixed greens and ham and tomatoes, little mustard and yes...1/2 teaspoon of mayo. Rats!
Snack: 1/2 grapefruit and slice of canteloup.

Day 177 Kale Nutrition Facts. Try It!
Exercise: Didn't make it to Memorial Park today due to rain. Hoping my hubby will go for a quick neighborhood run with me later tonight.
Click: Kale Nutrition Facts.
My latest craze is to implement kale into my diet. I heard about it on Oprah before she went off the air a while back. Oprah stated it was hard to eat raw so she suggested sauteing it in the pan first. I enjoyed it over some quinoa with a little drizzle of olive oil and salt. I also include it in anything when I use lettuce. I just use both in salads, sandwiches etc.
Click: How to saute veggies video. (great recipe too)
Breakfast: 2 corn tortillas, 1 boiled egg with mixed greens and little kale, green tea
Snack: sliced apples
Snack: peanut butter sandwich on multi-grain bread
Lunch: left overs from last night: quinoa topped with kale, greenbeans, corn, extra-lean meat patty, water
Snack: plain Greek yogurt, pineapple chunks
Dinner: chicken, asparagus, glutten free seaweed pasta and black rice pasta, salad (mixed greens, kale, tomatoes, olive oil, apple cider vinegar)

Day 176 DARN COOKIES/STAAR Testing
Exercise: Spin Class this evening! Needed it! 40 minutes of hard earned sweat!
STAAR Testing was today. This is the day students test on all the math and writing concepts they have learned throughout the year. Big day! I was in a room stagnant most of the day. Either I was testing students or in the testing room preparing materials. Need to exercise! During these type of days, there are always goodies for the teachers so I endulged in too many cookies and a Chick-Fil-A lunch and Fritos provided by the school. I was grateful for the lunch because I ate my peanut butter sandwhich lunch by 8:45am. Woke up real early today and ate breakfast super early so I was starving by 8:45am.
Breakfast: my hubby made me oatmeal with walnuts and blue agave, green tea, boiled egg
Snack: Ate my lunch...peanut butter sandwich
Snack: lots of little cookies...okay 5.
Lunch: chick-fil-a sandwich, Frito chips, water
Snack: apple slices
Dinner: extra lean meat patty, quinoa topped with kale, broccoli and corn, 1/2 sweet potato.

Day 175 Grapefruits
Exercise: None
I have heard that grapefruites have many health benefits. We bought a large bag of grapfruits and plan to eat one per day. This can be broken down to 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. I've heard it lowers the "bad" cholesterol, helps with regulating hunger, keeps you lean and so much more.

Day 174: Tried New Recipe
Exercise: None
Officially rented our townhome out! Thrilled. : ) Even more thrilled that we met at Starbucks to sign the paperwork and I didn't order any sweet treats or a hot chocolate. Great start to making better choices.
We also went to a new restaurant afterwards. Tried out Zoe's. Heard they offered a big selection of healthy items. Enjoyed some time eating outside in the warm sun.
Breakfast: scrambled eggs in corn tortilla
Snack: None
Lunch: Zoe's Restaurant: vegetable skewers (grilled peppers, mushrooms, zuccini,), white beans with spices, Greek salad, and a little pita bread, water.
Snack: Walked to Randall's grocery store and got a small double chocolate cupcake (better choice than the large cheesecake slice I really wanted from Barnes and Noble bookstore. : )
Dinner: New Recipe...yummy! Glutten free spaghetti noodles (black rice noodles and seaweed noodles). Boil and add a little extra virgin olive oil. Put in frozen broccoli, sauted mushrooms, carrots, greenbeans, corn and mix together. Add garlic salt, peper, Herb de Ponce spices to taste.

Day 173 Noticing A Negative Change in Eating Habits
Exercise: Ran at memorial park. Ran almost 2 miles and walked one mile.
When I look back at my food intake this week, I am not impressed. I also notice a consistent decline in exercise. At least I can see these things through my blog and make a change. This is one reason I continue to type my blog. It helps me stay on track. I see I've eaten out a lot these past 2 weeks and visited the fast food drive through venues on too many occasions. I sense the "old Trish" is trying to make a comeback! She will tiptoe her way back into my life if I allow it. No. I must get back on track and make better choices to eat healthy and get organized again. It has been a while since I've actually taken time to cook recipes and make food I can actually freeze for during the week. Okay, my goal for next week (starting tomorrow) will be to get organized, make healthy meals, and exercise regularly again! I will no longer tutor 2 of my 5 math students after Monday, which will open up some time for me. Our townhome is about to rented as well, giving me more time to focus on myself and my hubby. : )

Day 167 Last Day in Dallas
Exercise: None
Last day to visit with my sister. She took me to the BEST little cafe called the Bicycle Cafe.
We had a healthy breakfast. In fact, they only serve healthy food and snacks. The cafe is close to White Rock Lake which is where people walk/run and ride their bikes. I always enjoy time spent there.
Breakfast: Steel cut oatmeal with gogi berries, strawberries, granola, almonds, soy milk, green tea, corn tortilla with egg and spinach.
Lunch: none...on the road back to Houston
Early Dinner: extra lean beef in a sandwich with mustard and mixed greens
Snack: Greek yogurt with organic strawberries, water
Late night snack: few corn chips and 1/2 cup vegitable soup, bread slice
It is midnight right now. My vacation is officially over and I return to work in the morning. Can't sleep just thinking about it. Even though I love my job, it is always hard to go back to work after a break. I get used to sleeping late and having so much time on my hands! It will be okay once tomorrow is over and I get back into the routine.

Day 166: Day Two In Dallas
Exercise: Used my sister's elliptical machine for 40 minutes and burned 200 calories. Later in evening went for a 3 mile walk with my sister in the neighborhood.
During lunch my sister and I went to a neighbors house for a St. Patrick day BBQ celebration. Chatted a bit and played a game called Washers. You have to throw the bean bags into the hole that is built into a wooden contraption. Apparently they play it a lot in Illinois, which is where her neighbors are from. I lost, but it was fun. They had lots of yummy snacks and grilled burgers and sausage.
Breakfast: toasted bread with real cheese and a slab of ham, canned pineapple
Lunch: grilled hamburger with mustard and a grilled sausage with mustard on a hot dog bun, water, slither of a margarita cake with cream cheese frosting, 4 chips with bean/corn/onion/cilantro salsa
Snack: apple
Dinner: Went out to a great Italian restaurant. Had grilled chicken, vegetables, too much bread and a bit of artichoke dip with more bread, water.

Day 165 On Way To Dallas
Exercise: None
Driving myself to the big D to visit Brother and Sissy...EXCITED! My brother is turning 37 so we plan to celebrate his birthday. My sister and I usually trot around town and either shop or do wishful thinking. Usually hit the coffee shops and desserts. I gained 2 pounds during my visit to Corpus Christi even though I exercised and tried to eat well. Hoping that doesn't happen in Dallas. Difficult when you aren't at home in control of your own meals. Woke up this morning to find no breakfast (been out of town). Threw something to eat together. Missed my eggs. About to drive to Dallas with no snacks...no food in fridge. : ( I'm sure I'll have to stop somewhere and eat. I think I'm already hungry and I just had breakfast! Not satisfied with my odd breakfast.
Breakfast: green tea, small amount of beans (from my mom), broke out the old oatmeal and put walnuts in it, spoonful of Greek plain yogurt with some blueberries.
Lunch: small jr. cheeseburger from Wendy's on the road, water
Snack: apple
Dinner wheat pasta with basil sauce, pine nuts, tomatoes, salad with cucumbers, lettuce, fetta cheese, olive oil, vinegar (my sissy made dinner)
Snack: canned pineapple and spoonful of lime sherburt ice-cream and 1/2 square of bakers chocolate.
Late Night... Went out with my brother and sissy. Ate about 4 nachos with beans and cheese and a giant Dr. Pepper. Then back at the house I ate a grilled cheese and 1/2 ham sandwich! Oh my! It was as if I was starving and hadn't eaten all day. Can't wait to be back at work next week and on my regular eating schedule. Feel gross!

Day 164: Video Of My Spin Class!
Drove in from Corpus late afternoon and was able to make it for late evening spin class. Vince took a quick video of me before the class started. May be a bit muffled since his finger was over the microphone on his phone. LOL. The class is so motivating when all arrive, the music is blarring and the instructor is yelling, pushing everyone to work their hardest. I hope you will check into a spin class in your area. Changed my well-being! I even want my own spin bike, but then I would miss out on all the fun of spinning with a class.
See video and I hope it motivates you to try it!
Exercise: Walked 1.5 miles with my mom in Corpus Christi in the morning. Spin class in Houston in the evening for only 20 minutes today. Went at a different time. Wasn't too thrilled with the instructor. Much prefer the one at my regular class time. Didn't care for the music and especially hated when the instructor peddled slowly instead of doing the class routine with all of us.
Breakfast: one corn tortilla with a boiled egg and avacado in it, green tea
Lunch: chicken and potato salad just before heading back to Houston
Snack: soup and salad with tomatoes and avacados
Late Dinner (9pm!!) Niko Niko's Greek Restaurant: Gyro sandwich with lamb, beef, that cucumber sauce, tomatoes, onion all in a gyro with rice, water. A free dessert...some kind of Greek chocolate pie. Yum. Shared it with Vince.

Day 163: Day Two In Corpus Christi
Exercise: Walked 1 mile at the high school track with my mom this morning and walked 4 miles with my dad around the city in the evening.
My dad and I drove to Rockport to look at properties on the beachfront. On the way back he wanted to stop at a little bakery/cafe for a drink. He tricked me into getting pies! I REALLY didn't want anything and wasn't even hungry. I wish people understood that I am really trying to do my best to cut out the sweets and bad stuff. I already make enough bad choices. Then again, I felt like I rarely spend time with my dad so I should just eat it and enjoy the time. I ate it and it was gross. I hate marange (sp?). Just ate the chocolate part, but I could tell it was a frozen store bought pie. Not at all tasty. A waste of calories, but definitely a good time.
Breakfast: one corn tortilla with one boiled egg and sliver of avacado in it, blueberry green tea
Snack: mixed berries..2 strawberries, blackberries, blueberries in some plain yogurt.
Lunch: Dad took me to a Mexican restaurant. Ate chicken covered in zuccini and corn, side of refried beans and mexican rice, water
Snack: part of a piece of chocolate pie.
Dinner: 3 delicious bean, chicken, tomato, avacado tacos in corn tortillas, water, handful of blueberries.

Day 162 Day One In Corpus Christi
None: Spent time on the road driving to Corpus Christi to visit my parents. Arrived too late to get out and exercise.
Breakfast: Egg on 1/2 bread, pineapple
Snack: vanilla soy milk with no sugar cocoa (my version of hot chocolate).
Lunch: peanut butter sandwich, water (if you haven't noticed..I've been eating way too much peanut butter sandwiches. This happens when I don't want to cook lunch).
Snack: On the road...stopped at McDonalds and got a crispy chicken sandwich with lettuce tomato and yes..mayo. Rats! Not much else you can find when driving in the middle of no where. Should have packed my lunch.
Dinner: Mom's meal: Wait until you see a picture when I get home. I may ask my hubby to put it on the blog for me since he is at home. I can't do it from my Dad's computer. The meal: little sweet potato, red pepper, green beans all wrapped in a piece of chicken on a skewer. Side of wheat pasta, avacado and a salad with the best homemade healthy dressing. Details in a few days and maybe a pic of the recipe.
Snack: plain yogurt with mixed berries...strawberries, blueberries, blackberries.

Day 161 Midnight I-Hop Rendezvoux!
Exercise: Rode the Spin bike on my own. No class today. 35 minutes and burned almost 500 calories.
Vince and I saw how the other half lived last night. Since we are so very busy, we rarely have any time to do anything, but we decided we were going to get out Saturday night and try country dancing. Yep, I said country dancing. It would be great exercise...once you figure out how to do it. : ) Things came up and it got very late. We were too tired by 11pm to do any dancing, but wanted to get out and I was famished. We drove to go dancing, but ended up stopping at I-Hop instead. When I saw their sign, I knew I MUST have pancakes. Ordered the harvest grain/walnut pancakes (as if that they are healthier than any other pancakes!)
Click I-Hop Restaurant. Not a place to eat if you are trying to eat healthy. Every now and then, you have to eat something fun.
I forgot to mention in my previous blog that I had a major craving for bread late Friday night. I begged my hubby to go to the nearby restaurant..Fuzzy's and get me some garlic cheese bread. He did and I ate an entire 1/2 of a french bread loaf with butter, garlic and cheese. I was pretty horrified at my choice to allow my stomach to overtake my decision to try and eat healthy! I know I only have cravings when I don't eat properly during the day. One must be organized and have snacks and eat good foods or the bad foods creep back in.
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, green tea
Snack: pineapple
Lunch: peanut butter sandwich, no sugar hot cocoa in vanilla soy milk
Dinner: very early...1/2 salmon, 1/2 sweet potato, little broccoli
Late Night Dinner: 4 pancakes, water!
Funny pancake pic later

Day 160: Bread Overload!!/Toning Poses
I'm not into yoga, but I do like to do the plank. Tones up the abs, waist and so much more if consistent.
Click Toning Poses
Okay, these open houses every weekend are going to be the death of me! I wish our townhome would rent already! I brought a little lunch to munch on during the open house, but ended up baking croissants and eating all 8 of them myself! Since our oven at home isn't working, I also baked a frozen cheese pizza and ate half of it! Bread overload! Feel as if all of my cells in my body are inflamed and exploding. In other words, I feel bloated and heavy. Maybe I should do some toning poses today. About to leave for evening mass. Sure hope I can find time to work out this evening!
Breakfast: 1 egg sandwich on whole grain bread, green tea
Snack: no sugar hot chocolate with cocoa in vanilla soy milk
Lunch: 8 croissants!
Snack: 1/2 an apple, water
Dinner: 1/2 of a frozen cheese pizza!
Snack: TBA Better eat some fruit later and drink lots of water!

Day 159: Tree Struck By Lightning/Oven Not Working!
Exercise: An amazingly difficult, yet wonderful time at Spin Class! Burned 598 calories in 45 minutes.
About a week ago, one of our huge oak trees was struck by lightning during a heavy storm. When I arrived home, there were large tree limbs spread throughout the front yard, on the roof of our home, and in the backyard. A large branch high in the tree was splitting as well. Luckily I had decided on going to the grocery store right after work. I became stranded at the grocery store when the storm hit and wasn't home to witness the strike of lightening and to hear the loud explosion sound it left, according to our neighbors. Upon entering our home, I heard annoying beeping coming from our stove/oven and loud beeps coming from the battery backup at the computer. Embarrassed to say, I didn't know where the breakers were since this is a rather new home. Learned they were behind our guest room outside. So I trudged in the rain trying to locate them and turn them off. Couldn't open the box. Listened to the annoying sound for hours until my hubby came home. Turned out we can't figure out what is wrong with our oven, but it won't work. Needs repairing and it is less than a year old! Twice this week I have purchased items from the grocery store that need to be cooked in the oven forgetting that it doesn't work! One item was a box of 4 frozen pizzas! Guess it is a good thing I can't cook it. : )
Breakfast: 1 egg sandwich on whole grain breads
Lunch: no sugar cocoa in vanilla soy milk, peanut butter sandwich, water
Dinner: lean groud beef meatballs with spices, asparagus, quinoa, side of tomatoes, 1/2 avacado and 1/2 a carrot. Water, small orange

Click Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant
After work I tutored a math student. From there I had about an hour and a 1/2 to burn because I needed to be back at work for a 6pm meeting. Decided to meet my hubby at Sweet Tomatoes to kill some time. Sweet Tomatoes can be healthy or it can be unhealthy depending on what you order. They have a wonderful huge buffet of delicious greens, veggies, nuts, fruits, soups, pastas, breads, and desserts. Being hungry, I could have selected better items.
Breakfast: scrambled eggs in 2 whole grain breads
Snack: apple
Lunch: 1 cookie during a meeting, strawberries, salmon and sweet potoatoes (my broccoli fell on the floor)
Dinner: Salad with olive oil, small piece of cheese bread, turkey chili with beans, a chocolate muffin and 2 chocolate chip cookies. Yikes! Water.

Day 155 Toastmasters Event Appitizers!
Exercise: Weights at the gym...arm, back, abs, some leg. 5 minutes on the elliptical machine.
Breakfast: one egg sandwhich on round whole grain breads, green tea
Snack: apple slices
Lunch: chicken, red potatoes, lots of mixed veggies and broccoli, peanut better sandwich (must have been hungry!), water
Bad choice: 6 chocolate almond Hershey Kisses. They were on the table at work! Why are they there??
Dinner: Salad with chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, fetta cheese, olive oil, spices.
Attended a special Toastmaster's function tonight and couldn't avoid the temptations of eating all the finger foods. Had some super salty Lay's Potato chips, someone's homemade macaroni with sliced hotdogs..oh boy. Even a slither of chocolate cake. Felt pretty gross after all that.

Day 153: Flatten Your Tummy VIDEO
Click: Flatten Tummy Video
Exercise: Jogged/Walked at Memorial Park early this morning. It was a nippy 48 degrees, but warmed up quickly. Hadn't tried to run in so long. Didn't do very well. Felt some interesting pain throughout my knee and shin bone area. Later during the day, had trouble walking due to the pain. Getting better now, but still hurts to walk and I don't see running in the near future. Guess it is back to Spin class and maybe the elliptical again. When will I get around to doing weights again? The hardest part is just starting! Once you start, you don't want to stop.
Breakfast: boiled egg only... out the door to jog. Missed my green tea.
Snack: apple
Lunch: None...got caught up in the open house trying to rent our townhome.
Dinner: Starving! 1/2 salmon, broccoli, salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, fetta cheese, olive oil. Appatizer: few small dumplings with chicken and cilantro. Yum.
Dessert: thinking of having some Greek yogurt with frozen raspberries soon.

152: SIZE 6 ???
Size 6? Yes! Hadn't been clothes shopping in a several months. Browsed a bit at the mall today. My jeans have been getting quite loose so I tried a size 6 just for fun. Very very surprised that SOME size 6s fit. : )
Some were a little too tight in the waist. I don't like to wear anything tight. No idea I was getting close to fitting into a 6 comfortably. Motivates me to go to the gym tomorrow! I love Spin Class, but I really need to start doing more weights. Some changes I've made the past 2 weeks are drinking a lot more water and going to Spin class more than once a week.
Breakfast: 2 corn tortillas, 2 scrambled eggs, green tea
Lunch: grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayonaise from McDonalds (still at the townhome most of the day trying to rent it out) Had to get take out.
Dinner: Too tired to cook: peanut butter sandwich on whole grain round bread, soy vanilla milk with no sugar cocoa, salad with tomato, cucumber, fetta cheese, olive oil.
Snack: will probably have Greek yogurt with frozen berries later this evening.
