Did poorly today. End of the school year is stressful. Shouldn't make excuses! Trying to finish up numerous projects and help teachers with their final preparations as well. 239 Lifting Weights: Week 2

Exercise: Weights at the gym. Really working on using free weights for my legs. Lots of squats, lunges, stepping, calf lifts and ab work. etc. Also walked/jogged one mile on the tredmill.

Excited about lifting weights. Already beginning to feel the soreness in my legs just after a few hours. Need to figure out why I get soreness and my husband doesn't. Lactic acid? How do I avoid that? About to stretch soon. Really focusing on lifting weights with areas of my body that I haven't done much work on...ie: inner thigh, toosh, calves, hamstings. Gonna get rid of the fat.

After our Toastmasters group tonight our group visited at Fuzzy's Pizza. How do you not eat pizza there!? So I had one cheese pizza slice and water. I know that will come back to haunt me. It is like canceling out all the weights that I did.

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal, green tea
Snack: blueberries
Lunch: chicken, glutten free pasta with some zucchini and black olives, broccoli, water
Snack: oreo cookies from my office for meetings! RATS!
Dinner: salmon patty, greenbeans and corn, mixed leafy greens with tomato, black olives and a bit of fetta cheese, water, wontons
Dinner 2: cheese pizza slice

Dinner #1

Wontons: I'm obsessed with them. Asian pasta with chicken.
Whatever Asian pasta is???

Day 238 On The Road Back To Houston

Exercise: None : (
Back from out of town. SLUGGISH! Thinking about all I need to do to get ready for work for the last week of school. The kids and teachers have one more week. I have 3 more weeks and then I tutor during the summer. Actually sitting on the couch right now contemplating doing weights at the gym or walking at the park. Hoping I do one of them! The food I ate today is wearing me down! I know I will feel better if I burn some calories and work out. Okay...I'm doing it! Gosh, it is like pulling teeth today! Come on Trish...get a grip..get up! Yes, I'm getting up now. LATER: (okay..I got up, but didn't exercise).

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 oatmeal with walnuts and blueberries, green tea
Snack: on the road: egg taco with potatoes in white flour tortilla, water
Lunch: on the road: sausage, potato salad, green beans with bacon, slice of bread, water
Dinner: corn tortilla with egg and cheese, water
Late Night Snack: popcorn popped on the stove, peanut butter sandwich.

Egg and potato taco from Whataburger...on the road. Artery clogging food!

BBQ place on the road back to Houston.
You know sausage will clog your heart!
Do I even care when I'm hungry??
How does one get over that?

Visited the family in Corpus Christi, Texas. Enjoyed the ferry ride near the harbor bridge, shoreline walks, shrimp boats, pelicans, and other attractions. Tried real hard not to eat out, but did enjoy a snowcone and Vince ate a giant pickle. Yuck. Here are some pics of our adventure.

Going out to rake the yard in a bit. Ugg!

Just slice and boil! Easy, healthy, and delicious.

Day 234 Subway Sandwich Stats

Exercise: None, fell asleep instead. Rats! Wanted to go to Spin class, but my legs are so sore from the weights yesterday. Should have at least gone for a walk.

I'm excited to report that I made a good choice while hungry! Starving after work and didn't have food with me or prepared at home. I knew I was going to pick something up to eat. I wanted a Whataburger! I could just taste it. Decided to take the high road and choose a Subway sandwich instead. If I have to eat out, I need to learn to make healthy selections. Here are some stats on the subway sandwiches. Better than a 800 calorie Whataburger!

Breakfast: boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal, green tea
Snack: apples
Snack: 2 cookies the libarian made at work!
Lunch: peanut butter sandwich
Snack: popcorn, regular hot chocolate( the package kind with sugar) in water. Gross really!
Early Dinner: Grabbed a Subway on the way home: chicken, lettuce, tomaoto, cumumber, banana peppers, olives, pepper jack cheese, small amount of mayo, salt and pepper on 9 grain bread.
Snack: few wontons (garlic chicken inside), water
Snack: 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk and a few walnuts before bed.

Day 233 Started Weight Lifting

Exercise: Weights like crazy at the gym! Did some free weights in the "man" section. : ) Squats.
Other leg exercises. Floor ab exercises, 3 minutes on the eliptical maching. Ankle started hurting so I stopped. Still trying to heal the ankle.

Not even sure what I ate because I'm a day late writing this. Yesterday was like a sampling of different things throughout the day. Didn't really have a "meal." When I don't eat meals, I just keep eating stuff.

Breakfast: boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal, green tea
Snack: apples
Lunch: red potatoes and lean turkey meat mixed together, water, unsweetened cocoa in soy milk.
Snack: granola bar
Snack: cereal after work
Dinner: Canned vegetable and chicken dumpling soup
Snack: pineapples and yogurt
Snack: 1/2 grapefruit

Day 232 Biscut Attack!

Exercise: None. Went to bed at almost 2am. Very tired today. Took a very long nap this evening.

This is the reason I do not normally buy things like biscuts! I WILL eat them all or at odd times! So I was up very late last night (or morning I should say) and became hungry. Scurried to the fridge and ate the biscuts I made the other day. (If you recall, I was starving at the grocery store and bought them. No will power). This is actually a picture from a previous day. I just ate biscuts last night...no bacon and cheese in them.

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal w/walnuts and flax, green tea
Snack: granola bar
Lunch: peanut butter sandwich, 1/2 ham sandwich, unsweetened cocoa in vanilla soy milk
Snack: large cookie from work.
Dinner: chicken, veggies, sweet potato, water
Snack: cereal, few dried tart cherries, water

1am!  : (

Vince made me a special oatmeal today because I woke up
late! I think he put in some ground flax and walnuts.

Day 231 Hurt Ankle

Exercise: Arm weights, walked 3 miles at memorial park this evening.
Really wanted to jog a bit at the park. Started and my ankle immediately hurt. Been hurting off and on since my last 5K, but I've sort of ignored it. I finally realized today that I need to ice it and stop trying to run on it for a while. It is always something...ankle, knee, hip. Geez! How do other people run with such ease?? I'm going to be able to train again soon. I know it. I will run a 10K again before my 365 days are over. I know I will!

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 oatmeal, green tea
Snack: apples, few walnuts with dried tart cherries
Bad snack: those packaged orange crackers with fake cheese!
Lunch: 1/2 sweet potato, lean ground turkey meat mixed with tomato salsa, broccoli, little lettuce/tomato, water
Snack: peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread
Dinner: a little cereal before dinner. Salmon, quinoa, broccoli, greenbeans, water
Snack: 1/2 grapefruit

Day 230 Reverted Back To The Old Days

Exercise: Walked 3 miles at Memorial Park...well, I'm about to go actually.

Mistake #1: Went to the grocery store HUNGRY! Bought biscuts (the big ones), bacon and cheese. Decided that would be my dinner. My stomach was larger than my Will.   : (
I'll admit, before I met my husband, this is how I ate most of the time and didn't think anything of it. Nuts!
My dinner was full of transfats and processed foods. Have I become too paranoid about what I eat? I think my hubby has, but maybe I'm the same way. Hmm.

Easy when you buy frozen berries
in bulk from Costco. I do miss
the fresh ones sometimes.

Lunch

Dinner + one plain biscut. I love
biscuts! Was quite hard to
give up. Can't believe I ate some.
It has been sooooo long.

This is what I made for my husband for dinner. Lean turkey
meat mixed with garlic and tomato salsa, orange peppers over a sweet potato, broccoli and greenbeans, lettuce and tomato. He won't eat
biscuts.

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal, green tea, raspberries and blueberries.
Snack: unsweetened cocoa in vanilla soy milk with a dash of vanilla extract
Lunch: broccoli, chicken, quinoa and brown rice mixture, water
Dinner: 4 biscuts with 1 egg, turkey bacon strips and cheese, water
Snack: plan to have some watermelon tonight.

My mantra...I will do weights tomorrow...I will do weights tomorrow...I will do weights tomorrow!!!

Day 229: Big Toe Pain!

Get this....I'm sitting here on the couch at 2am (Saturday early morning) because I was awakened by a strange big toe pain out of the blue! This happened last month too and I attributed it to my foot being pushed too far into the foot pedal holders of the Spin bike. This time I didn't Spin though. It happened several months back as well and I attributed it to running that day and figured my shoes were too tight. I didn't run today or yesterday though. I'm miffed. What could it be? Internet searches only share gloom and doom details of Gout, arthritis, Haliux something rather....oh boy. I'm getting paranoid. Could it be what I ate today? Too much sugar in the pizza, brownies and Dr. Pepper? I'll never have a DP again!! I promise! My mind is obviously playing out the worse possible scenarios. Anyone have any ideas?

I learned that Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the body and you can get that by eating high purine foods. Click: Gout Diet. I already do these things so maybe I don't have high uric acid. Don't you love self diagnosing yourself utilizing the internet? All of a sudden you think you have every bizarre disease out there!

Breakfast: green tea, boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal in vanilla soymilk
Lunch: bean patty with lettuce tomato, mustard on a bun, sweet potato fries (fried!), water w/lemon, iced tea
Dinner: broccoli, greenbeans, chicken, quinoa mixed with brown rice, water, 1/2 grapefruit
Snack: unsweetened cocoa in vanilla soy milk with a little vanilla extract.

Dinner

Day 228 Evening Out!

Exercise: None on the Friday evening.

Today all I did was eat out! Too bad I didn't at least exercise, but I had a great day. This evening Vince and I went to City Center in Town and Country. Such a happening place with music, a variety of eateries, Studio Movie Grill (where you watch a movie in the theater and they serve you food if you want), lofts and people and kiddos relaxing in the square. I love the light filled trees and the ambiance of the entire place. Numerous restaurants, bars, and great dessert finds. One could really rack up the calories in just one night!! Here is a quick video of a small portion of where we were.

I cringe as I am about to type something. Must be honest on the blog. You know I gave up Dr. Peppers and bragged about how I no longer desire them. The festivities, smells, and atmosphere of the evening made it easy to give in to making not so good choices in the food and drink department. Yes, I did it. I had a Dr. Pepper. Not even sure why. Didn't want it. Just seemed like I should have it since we were out on the town. Also shared a glutten free margarita pizza with Vince. (Margarita pizza has thin crust, tomato, fetta cheese and basil leaves)

Breakfast: 2 corn tortillas with scrambled eggs with green onion, small orange, green tea
Breakfast

Lunch served at the Administration
Building for a work celebration.
Few red potatoes, beans with bacon,
chicken and I ate 1 1/2 brownies!

Early Dinner around 4:30pm
Chicken mixed with Greek plain
yogurt (instead of mayo), green
onions, orange bell pepper in 2
corn tortillas. Carrot on the side, water

The infamous ADDICTIVE
Dr. Pepper soda drink!
Why? Why? Why??!!

Day 226 Enough Snacks Around To Feed A City!

Exercise: no exercise today.  : (  Meeting after work, dental appointment and dinner after that. I hate when I make excuses! I'm sure I could have at least done some weights in front of the T.V.

My school is the Queen of rewarding people with food. Granted, they have very good intentions! This proves work is the culprit of "the extra 5 pounds!" You are already stressed and a bit tired. You come to work to find sugar, sugar, and more sugar. A moist chocolate muffin here, some salty chips there, a cookie or two. Snacking like this everyday can really add up the calories. If you don't have your own healthy snacks it is difficult to fight the sugar temptation. Heck, even if you do have your snacks it is hard not to partake in the goodies. They are around every corner. Check this out:

Breakfast: 1/4 cup oatmeal in vanilla soy milk, 1 boiled egg with 1/2 the yolk, green tea
Snack: apple slices
Early Lunch: peanut butter sandwich, raspberry tea
Snack: peanut butter crackers (packaged item)
Later lunch: grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato and mayo.
Snack: unsweetened cocoa in vanilla soy milk, 1/2 cup cereal in soy milk
Dinner: salmon on a bed of lettuce, corn, greenbeans, water, few walnuts

Also had lemonaid and chips

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal, green tea, frozen blueberries
Snack: apple slices
Lunch: a grilled burger with tomato, lettuce and mayo, frito chips, lemonaid
Snack: lettuce wrap with a slice of cheese and a tomato inside of it

Day 224 Making Ice-Cream FUN!

Exercise: None

Okay...ice-cream surely isn't healthy, but I had to show this tid-bit of fun I experienced today! Kindergarteners making ice-cream. I'll have to get the directions/ingredients for you tomorrow.

Ingredients to come tomorrow....

Sappy Alert! Here it goes. Maybe you are struggling with your weight. Maybe you want to eat better, but feel you have no time with your busy schedule and end up eating out all the time. Maybe you want to work out, but just aren't quite motivated to yet. I know all those feelings! It is a decision only YOU can make. Think of it this way...Fact, you are going to age. Time WILL pass. Do you want to be in the same place next year and the year after and so on? Time will pass so you might as well decide to do it now. Picture yourself at Christmas dinner or next summer trying to fit into those shorts. How about you fit into those shorts and listen to everyone say how great you look during the holidays? You can do it. Make the decision today! Now is the time! Here is a photo of hope for you. I LOVE rainbows. They bring me peace and hope of a prosperous future. Saw this on the way home this evening and in front of our home.

In front of our home.

On the way home

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/4 cup oatmeal, green tea
Snack: apple slices
Lunch: left overs: quinoa, chicken wontons, peppers, lettuce, sun dried tomatoes. (hungry soon after)
Snack: small brownie. RATS! 100 calories for nothing.
After work snack: Cookie from my Principal. RATS! More unnecessary calories.
Even later snack: Yes, really! Peanut butter sandwich
Late Dinner: Too late! Giant salad with chicken, wontons, peppers, sun dried tomatoes, broccoli, water
Late dinner. Trying to not eat so late, but no luck today.
Meeting after work and then a hair appointment.

I'm apparently obsessed with these chicken wontons!
